The Motherland - Ireland

Ok, technically the Fatherland, since I'm 99.9% Irish blood on my dad's side. Anyway, I'm in the green country. I can't really describe Ireland. When I first went to England, I remember thinking how colourful and quaint it was because of the flowers and vines and grass everywhere. Ireland feels more... wild. Somehow. It's such a deep, intense green but scattered across the green is seas of green, everything looks wet. But beautiful and almost like a forgotten landscape. There's just jagged rocks sticking up, with spotted black surfaces, sheep everywhere, and random ruins of stone houses that have been left and vines, trees, moss have taken root.
6th-7th August, '12 - Dublin
So I did exactly what I wrote last time. I walked all around Dublin, eventually finding the camera store... and it was closed. Bank holiday. Oops. So after all that, I headed on over to the cinema. Thank goodness, that was open, but not for another 30 minutes, so I had some lunch and then watched The Dark Knight Rises. I was a bit disappointed, I didn't like Anne Hathaway as Cat Girl, I thought her relationship and connection with Batman towards the end was kind of baseless and stupid. I still enjoyed the movie, but it didn't come close to matching The Dark Knight.

Day 2 in Dublin was spent once more looking for the camera shop to buy a camera charger. It was expensive, but I now have one. From there I had a walk around Trinity College.
The library in there is just incredible. Words cannot describe it. We weren't allowed to take photos, but it's definitely something to see when you're in Dublin. Otherwise I felt Dublin lacked personality, it just felt like any old city. I was rather bored by it and glad to leave.

Wednesday, 8th August '12 - Ring of Kerry
On the 7th I took a train to Killarney. I ended up in a hostel called "Paddy's Palace" and it was, by far, the worst hostel I've stayed in so far. It was super cheap, so I can't complain. The first night wasn't that bad actually, but the next night, there were some French people and they just drove me bonkers. Talking shit all the time, and the girl that bunked on top of me, all night moving violently and waking me up. They smelt so bad too. Ugh.

The Ring of Kerry tour was very beautiful, but I feel like I went through the whole tour with a hand half covering my eyes. There was a very dense fog most of the day that hung low around all the mountains, so I feel like I didn't experience the immensity of the drive. It really screwed over my depth perception. But even in spite of this, it was a beautiful drive.
