Thursday, 23rd August '12Following day was, thankfully, not as hot as the day before. Of course, don't let that fool you. I still returned to the hostel sweating the ocean out of my body.
I spent the day walking all about on my own. I noted down list of about four places I wanted to visit. I managed to get to them all, and they were all beautiful and worthwhile in their own way. I can't pronounce or remember the name of any of the places I went to. To google.
Ok, so in order, I went to The Lebrija Palace, some random church, Real Alcazar and the Casa de Pilatos.
The Lebrija Palace was very small, and it's a privately owned museum. The family that own the museum, still actually live in the palace every now and then. The bottom level is completely different to the second. The bottom has a whole heap of archeological artifacts collected by the countess Lebrija, and it also has a large amount of Roman mosaics on the floor.
I liked the top floor better, they were actually fully furnished rooms, each in their own style with their own quirks. But alas I wasn't allowed to take photographs, so bad luck! You miss out!
Whilst attempting to find the Real Alcazar, I found a super pretty looking church and I decided to have a look. It's in the same vicinity of the Cathedral... but I feel like it was too small to be the actual Cathedral, I still don't really know where I went.
Naturally, afterwards, I went to visit the Real Alcazar. Again, it's an Islamic palace with a huge garden and with amazing masonry work and tilework. Alas, after having seen the Alhambra in Granada only a few days previously, it doesn't quite compare. But still beautiful, just doesn't have the grandeur of the Alhambra.
My last stop was the Casa de Pilatos. Probably the least interesting of the day, but still impressive in its own right. The museum again was private, so I was not allowed to take photos of the rooms in the top floor. It was mainly focused on the art collection of the owner and also had furniture and construction pieces that dated as far back as the 15th Century.
After that I was dead on my feet. Everything hurt. So I went back to hostel to watch TV and generally be my lazy self.
Walked past this, mushroom... things. Looked awesomeeee.
