Sarah in Berlin!

Sunday, 15th July - Tuesday, 17th July 2012
So, the day Sarah arrived turned out to be an unmitigated disaster. I spent most of the weekend either with my friends or packing up my various belongings ready for my move. And then I spent the rest of the time watching tv in bed like the lazy child that I am.

Anyway, so 5 o'clock arrives, I get off and head on over to the airport. I arrive about 5 minutes after h plane was scheduled to land and wait by the arrivals. I'm looking for her flight number... and I don't see it ANYWHERE. I'm looking, looking and then I look up the flight details on the internet. She had landed at Tegel, not Schoenefeld. I immediately panic. She has no way of contacting me, nowhere to go, she does not speak the language and just landed after a 25+ flight after working non-stop for like a month.

Tegel, by the way, is on the COMPLETE other side of Berlin. I had no idea how to get there, and even if I did, it would probably take me at least 1.5 hours to get there.

So I do the only thing I can think, I tell her on FB to stay where she is and grab a 45 euro taxi to Tegel airport where I frantically run all around the airport looking for a blonde with a massive pink suitcase.

I was so relieved when I finally found her, words honestly cannot describe how terrified I was. I just kept thinking, how I would have reacted if I were in her shoes and I just know I would've gone into immediate fetal position. She'd had to wait for me for over an hour. Poor girl.

I even looked at the flight itinerary that she'd printed herself and it said on there that she landed at Schoenefeld... STUPID LAME PEOPLE. CHANGING. AIRPORTS. I really should've confirmed landing time etc before I left... but I didn't. Ugh.

Anyway.

We had some food when we finally got back to my place and she basically passed out. I then went to GMF to party for the last time with Marlene and Nicole. Though it was mainly Nicole, as Sowon had passed out earlier that night drunk at a friend's place and Marlene spent most of the night getting felt up by the gayest man I've ever seen in my life. Good times at GMF.

I got home and had maybe two hours sleep... and then Sarah and I were off for the day.

I took my bike and Sarah hired a bike at Potsdam HBF, and, since it was such a nice day, we spent most of the day riding around Park Sanssouci. I showed her my university (where I randomly ran into Marlene who'd lost her student ID and I became her angel cause I lent her 15 euros haha) and then Sarah and I cycled back through the park stopping at the various palaces and gardens on the way. It's just so beautiful, I will miss my uni bike rides~~

We took the super long way back into the centre of Potsdam past the Townhall and then had some noms by Nauener Tor. As we were cycling back to Potsdam HBF we decided to stop by Nikolai Kirche and as he stepped inside, the sun shining at our back, we looked around for maybe... three minutes, and we look back and a varitable deluge had started outside. I have never seen it rain so suddenly, and so heavily, before in my entire life.

We managed to get back to Potsdam HBF without getting too wet and headed on home after a long and wonderful day together.

We met again with Nicole that night in Friedrichschain and had some thai food.

The following morning Daniel came to mine super early and we put all my shit in his car to take back to his place. It was at this point that I realised my bike lock key was nowhere in evidence. We then went to meet up again with Nicole for some lunch near her place... to discover the restaurant she meant to take us to was closed. So we walked around for a bit and finally found a nice pizza takeaway/restaurant near Hermannstr.

Later in the evening Sowon and Marlene came over for the last time in my little flat and we just chatted away most of the night whilst I finalised all the packing and did some cleaning. I was greatly relieved to discover that the key had been in the pocket of the pants I'd been wearing the previous day. It really had been an added stress that I did not need!

Quite late the girls left and I finally finished packing everything. I went to sleep thinking we had to get up at the crack of dawn... I woke up early and was like FUCK IT. We're taking a later train.
