Stattbad, Wedding.

Saturday night, 31st March 2012

Against my better judgement, I gave in to peer pressure and accompanied Daniel and Nica out. I wasn't entirely sure where we were going, but I went along to try get the move out of my mind.

We only left the apartment at 11pm.

We met Daniel's friend Simon at his friend Anna's opening for her creative studio. It was really cosy, small and warm. She had set up a table with blank postcard shaped cardboard sheets, and the table was littered with various types of electrical tape, masking tape, stickers, scissors, pens, etc. People were encouraged to use them to make art and stick them on the wall.

The first one I made I will not show, as it's a surprise for somebody back in Australia.

The next one I made though, was in jest.

It's just incredible how creative some people can be, so I took pictures of postcards that I thought looked cool.

(Daniel's handiwork)

At around 2pm, we decided we were going to go to the club across the street. The line at this point, was HUGE. It would take us around 1.5 hours to get in. Some of the people at the studio had been earlier to get stamps and Daniel decided, fuck it, let's just try and replicate the stamps.

The idea made me really, really, nervous. Anyway, so we spent like 20 minutes drawing fake stamps on our wrists and eventually it was time to try fool the bouncers and walk in.

My god, my heart was beating four hundred miles a minute. The bouncers at the door had torches and everything. Looking forward, faux confident stride I just let them glimpse my wrist and walked past like it aint no thang, and next thing we were in the club. No entry fee, no waiting in line. It was so exhilirating!

The next 30 minute wait to put our coats away was less exhilirating, but the next thing I know we're climbing down some stairs to a dance floor... that was actually an emptied olympic-sized diving pool. WTF. Seriously, What. The. Actual. Fuck. Daniel had told me about it, but I hadn't realised that was where we were going. But it seriously just blew my mind! It was absolutely crazy cool.

After dancing there for around 20 minutes, we walked down some long-ass stairs to the 'Keller', where a dance floor had been erected next to/slightly above the generators of the pool. We stayed here most of the night, dancing and just listening to the music. It was seriously just a wild, crazy night/morning. We eventually left around 6am, and I was absolutely dead on my feet at this point as I'd been up since 7am the previous morning packing and getting ready for the move.

Only in Berlin.
