Dezember in Berlin

Snow, omg... snowww!
December '12
The beginning of December came meekly along, meandered a little, and then towards mid-month... everything just came crashing down and I was just busy, busy, busy for the whole rest of the month! It started off very cold, and even snowed for a few weeks. Snow is so pretty, but it can also be such a pain in the butt, cause I kept slipping on the ice, and they put gravel on the paths to help us not fall over, and then that would get all up in my shoes. Not to mention - cold! I didn't feel that comfortable riding my bike as the snow was very slippery, so I haven't ridden my bike in quite a long time... I miss it. :(
Anyway, Berlin is super pretty around this time of year. I was especially lucky that the snow fell as heavily as it did, because apparently it's more sleet and not this nice. It's really nice in conjunction with all the christmas markets and christmas lights that popped up EVERYWHERE!
So the two big events outside of Homestory Cup VI and Christmas was a visit to a Christmas Market in Neukoelln with David and his clan, plus a really nice Brazilian lunch cooked by Nica!
The christmas market was so insanely busy. People... everywhere!! Lines... everywhere! You know what else was everywhere? SNOW. It was so cold, seriously. I wore many layers... except on my feet. That was a big mistake as we walked around the market for about 1.5 hours and by the time I got to the restaurant afterwards I think my toes were almost frostbitten. The market itself was very cute, it was essentially an entire street with stalls selling food and drink (Gluehwein!), and a whole heap of super random hand-crafted goods. It was mainly things scrounged together or made through church groups or charity organisations.

Yeah there were camels... I didn't really get it either.

On another jolly December day I frolicked on over to Warschauer to attend Nica's going away lunch party. It was so lovely and the food was so fresh and delicious and pretty. It was just amazing! She has so many friends and I found the whole situation disgustingly intimidating, but I strived through it and managed to find my place and have a lovely ol' time. :)
